Domaine Bardouly is a privately owned country estate set in 13 hectares (32 acres) of gardens, woodlands and tended grounds, and perched halfway up a limestone hill above the Dropt river. Outside of the peak season the Pigeonnier to the Château is offered as an individual holiday rental with full use of the magnificent grounds, the heated swimming pool and the hard tennis court. With an efficient heating system this beautifully presented holiday home offers self catering accommodation for all seasons.

The 1500 square foot Pigeonnier has a spectacular living room with a high beamed ceiling and French windows leading out to the terrace and the heated pool. This spacious room has comfortable seating to include a double sofa bed. The dining area is incorporated in the living room and leads to the kitchen. The kitchen is fully equipped with all modern appliances. The two beautifully designed ensuite bedrooms have magnificent views over the orchards, woods and gardens. A queen size bed and divan are in the first floor bedroom. Washing and drying machines are located on the first floor landing. The second floor bedroom has two twin beds and a sleeping loft.

The heated pool and the area surrounding it is equipped with sun loungers, occasional tables, umbrellas and large comfy towels. The hard surfaced tennis court sits in a secluded area to the back of the property. Table tennis, croquet and badminton sets are provided. Gorge on beautiful peaches, apricots, plums, cherries, pears, apples and figs from the mature orchards in the park. The various paths throughout the estate are lined with blackberry bushes - providing juicy and delicious fruit. Enjoy walks through the grounds which boast lots of various species of mature trees including oaks, cedars, chestnuts, magnolia, elm and Judea. The region boasts the world renowned Bergerac appellation wine area which covers 12,700 hectares. The owners can arrange tastings and recommend favourite wineries. The Dordogne is the supplier of almost half of France's fine produce including truffles, cepes, and foie gras which is available at the Metairie adjoining the estate.

In the immediate area is a horse riding school, canoeing, fishing in the Dropt and boating on the Dordogne. Balloon rides can be arranged and are a great way to get a panoramic view of the exquisite Dordogne Valley. A 10 pin bowling alley is 15 minutes by car. Two world class golf courses are within one hour drive. We provide maps of historic walks showcasing the natural beauty of the region. The Valley is a regular destination for biking enthusiasts because of the gently rolling hills and peaceful countryside. A spectacular son et lumiere show of the re-enactment of the 100 years war battle at Castillon is a short journey by car. Historical chateaux, gardens and bastides are sprinkled throughout the region. Ancient towns such as Sarlat and Périgueux not only boast well known cathedrals but are also excellent for shopping and antiquing. No trip is complete without visit to the prehistoric caves of Lascaux.

Bardouly is 19 km from the Bergerac airport which is serviced by several airports in Europe including London Stansted. The property is a one hour drive from Libourne train station, which is easily accessible from Paris. One and a half hour drive from Bordeaux or Toulouse, both or which have major international airports. The nearest towns, both about a 10 minute drive from the house, are the historic bastides of Eymet, and Issigeac, well know for the Sunday markets.
